That afternoon, the storm had settled down and it was safe to travel. The Mayor was discouraging people from driving just to sightsee, but I had to check on Palm House.

Typical uprooted tree.

A Shell station.

I drove through town and turned onto Palm House Lane. Palm House is the tan house with the blue trim on the left.
Fortunately, Palm House itself was fine. The pool is full of palm fronds, but there was no flooding and no other damage.
Now all I can do -- all the people of Houston can do -- is cope as best we can with our lack of power and the residual effects of the flooding, and be patient as the city authorities gives first priority to those in most need. I appreciate your good wishes. We'll be just fine.
